The 2021 Jeep Compass is Launched in Nepal | Variants and Price Announced
The much-anticipated new Jeep Compass has finally arrived in Nepal. The 2021 Jeep Compass was launched here via the official social media page of Jeep Nepal, with an introductory price of NPR 84.90 lakh. MAW Life, the sole official distributor of Jeep four-wheelers in Nepal, has announced a total of nine variants of the Compass, along with their price in the Nepali market.
The 2021 Jeep Compass will rival the likes of the Kia Sportage, Tata H5, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson, and Skoda Karoq.
The facelift model comes with significant changes inside and out. The Compass’ major changes on the exterior are limited to the front fascia–the LED headlamps integrated with DRLs are slimmer; there is a massive seven-slat grille with chrome finish and honeycomb-like inserts; and the revamped bumper and fog lights enhance the SUV’s aggressive look. The Compass also gets a slightly tweaked bumper diffuser, and it will now sit on a new set of alloy wheels. The dimensions of the 2021 Jeep Compass measure 4405 x 1818 x 1640 mm; the wheelbase is 2636 mm; the ground clearance is 178 mm; and the kerb weight is 1641 kg.
The interior has been made interesting with major changes on the dashboard, which now features a floating 10.1-inch infotainment system (with FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto), a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new three-spoke steering wheel, slimmer AC vents, a 360-degree parking camera, and HVAC controls. The convenience in the SUV is taken care of by features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, powered tailgate, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Safety features include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist (BA), terrain modes, hill assist (HA), and hill-descent control (HDC), to name a few.
Propelling the Jeep Compass will be a familiar powertrain–the same 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the outgoing model. The diesel engine is good enough to generate a maximum power of 173 hp and maximum torque of 350 Nm, and the petrol engine will produce a maximum power of 163 hp and maximum torque of 250 Nm. The transmission options are offered as a six-speed manual as standard, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a nine-speed automatic torque converter. The petrol variant will only be available with FWD, whereas the diesel variant gets additional 4WD capability. The Compass can achieve a top speed of 202 kmph, and it provides a mileage of 16 kmpl.
The colour options for the 2021 Jeep Compass are White, Grey, Black, Red, Magnesio Grey, Green, and Blue.
