The 2021 Kia Sorento is Now in Nepal | Price and Specifications
Kia Nepal has announced the arrival of the all-new 2021 Kia Sorento in the Nepali market. Earlier this year, this upgraded version of the Sorento bagged the title of ‘Large SUV of the Year’ at the 2021 What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
The new-gen Sorento features stark differences compared to the one it replaces, in terms of both the exterior and the interior. For the Nepali market, the 2021 Sorento is offered in two variants (EXI and Executive) and a single powertrain option–it features a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that generates 198 hp of power and 440 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission unit. The SUV comes as an AWD drivetrain model. The EXI variant is priced at NPR 1.69 crore and the Executive variant costs NPR 1.89 crore.

With the 2021 model, Kia Sorento is leaving behind its curvy and soft character of earlier, and replacing it with a rather boxy and bold appearance on the outside. The iconic ‘tiger-nose grille’ is proudly flaunted and its aesthetics extend to the LED headlamps and DRLs. Some of the design elements, which are shared with the upcoming Kia Optima/K5, are both distinctive and pleasing to the eye. Among them are the sleek-looking sides with sharp rear side windows, C-pillars with touches of silver, and 18′′/19′ alloy wheels (depending upon the variant). The rear-end, featuring cuts and creases along with an extended spoiler and exhaust tips, should also help the Sorento stand out in the crowd.
The interior, too, is now more advanced and elegant than that of the outgoing Sorento. The dash looks stunning and is completely dominated by an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The cabin is spacious and practical, with cubby storage on the console, and the boot space is large enough for a medium-sized family. The combination of the all-black theme, rhombus-shaped air vents, integrated ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, and aluminum trims with diamond grid patterns spice up the Sorento’s insides. You can choose among five, six, and seven seating capacity options, and you also get a massive panoramic sunroof.

Safety features in the 2021 Sorento include a blind-spot view monitor, parking collision- avoidance assist, junction assist, colour head-up display, and multi-collision brakes, among others. For the convenience of customers, the SUV offers a smart key with a push-button and remote start, steering wheel range (Lock-to-Lock), smart cruise control with stop and go, a wireless phone charger, heated front seats, rear cross-traffic alert, etc.

The length, width, and height of the 2021 Sorento measure 4810mm, 1900mm, and 1700mm, respectively. The ground clearance stands at 176mm, and the vehicle has a wheelbase of 2815mm. The next-gen Sorento has a fuel tank capacity of 67 litres. The colour options for the SUV are Silky Silver, Steel Grey, Mineral Blue, Aurora Black, Gravity Blue, and Snow White Pearl.
