2023 Pulsar NS 200 vs 2023 KTM Duke 200

The rivalry between the Duke 200 and NS200 has been a favourite among motorcycle enthusiasts for years. With their latest versions, both bikes now offer revised designs, upgraded features, and new chassis, making it hard to pick one. Let’s compare these two naked bikes and see how they stack up against each other.

Starting off with the price rates the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs 4.25 lakh (Rs 23,000 more expensive than the outgoing model) whereas the KTM Duke 200 is priced at Rs 5.65 lakh, making the 2023 KTM Duke 200 around Rs 1.40 lakh more than the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200.

In terms of delivering power, both the new iterations come with the same powertrain as the outgoing models. The 2023 Pulsar NS200 is powered by a 199.5 cc, four-stroke, SOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, BS6 engine that comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 24 hp and a maximum torque of 18.3 Nm. The NS200 can reach a top speed of 136 kmph. On the other hand, the KTM Duke 200 is powered by a 199.5 cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled, FI, DOHC, BS6 engine. The engine–mated to a six-speed gearbox–generates a peak power of 25 hp and a peak torque of 19.3 Nm. The Duke 200 can speed up to 135 kmph. Furthermore, the NS200 provides a mileage of 36 kmpl whereas the Duke 200 offers 33 kmpl of mileage.

Comparatively, the Pulsar NS200 gets slightly more ground clearance of 12 mm than the Duke 200, making it more versatile in every type of road condition in Nepal. But the Pulsar NS200 gets a shorter wheelbase than the Duke 200.

In terms of design, the 2023 Pulsar NS200 gets the same design as its predecessors; however, the 2023 KTM Duke 200 comes with a new LED headlamp (identical to the KTM Duke 250 and the KTM Duke 390) and a new Dark Silver Metallic colour scheme.

Both the naked bikes share some features, such as LED units, disc brakes, alloy wheels, and a self start system. While the Duke 200 comes equipped with a fully-digital instrument console that displays information such as speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip metres, clock, gear position indicator, and fuel gauge, the NS200 comes with a new semi-digital instrument console that displays the same information along with the gear position indicator. Furthermore, both these bikes now come with dual-channel ABS.

As for the suspension, the 2023 NS 200 comes with a new USD fork at the front and a nitrox mono shock absorber with canister suspension in the rear, while the 2023 Duke 200 gets a WP upside-down front fork and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. For braking, both bikes come with disc brakes at the front and rear; however, the Duke 200 gets a larger front disc as compared to the NS 200.

Both bikes are good choices in their segment, and the choice between them ultimately depends on personal preference and specific requirements.
