2023 Volkswagen Tiguan launched at INR 34.69 lakh in India

Volkswagen, a German motor vehicle manufacturer, has launched the 2023 iteration of the Tiguan in the Indian market. The new SUV, which is offered in a single variant, comes with new dual-tone colour schemes, upgraded features, and a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol RDE-compliant engine. The company has offered the 2023 Tiguan at an introductory price of INR 34.69 lakh, which is Rs 50,000 more than the previous models.

Commenting on the occasion, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said: “With the updated Tiguan, we are offering our customers an impeccable combination of style, performance, premium-ness, safety and class-leading features. We are certain the enhanced Tiguan will attract many more Indian customers to the Volkswagen family enabling them to experience & enjoy our flagship model.”

Design and features

The new Tiguan comes with the same notable exterior elements as the outgoing models, such as LED headlamps with LED DRLs, chrome-finished grille, panoramic sunroof, roof rails, LED taillamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the company now has offered the SUV with five new colour options: Nightshade Blue, Oryx White, Dolphin Grey, Deep Black and Reflex Silver. Inside, the new SUV comes with new dual-tone Storm Grey interiors and updated leather-upholstered seats. The dashboard features a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, 10-inch digital instrument console, and a 8-inch touchscreen multifunctional infotainment system. 

The new SUV comes equipped with new notable features such as wireless phone charging, hands-free parking function, park assist system (Level 1 ADAS system). Similarly, other notable features are its 6 airbags, ABS, ASR, EDL, EDTC, all four disc brakes, auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, three-zone AC, keyless entry, 8 speaker, ISOFIX child seat mounts, driver alert systems, and Bluetooth connectivity, among others.

Powertrain

The new Tiguan gets the same powertrain as the outgoing models; however, now the engine is RDE-compliant. The SUV is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that generates a peak power of 141 hp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 340 Nm at 1750–2750 rpm. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG (Dual Shift Gearbox) transmission, and it gets Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as well. Furthermore, with the new engine update, the SUV provides an improved fuel efficiency of 13.54 kmpl.

2023 Volkswagen Tiguan price in Nepal

Volkswagen India has launched the 2023 Tiguan in a single variant at an introductory price of INR 34.69 lakh. The new SUV serves as a rival to the Skoda Kodiaq, the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Compass, and the Hyundai Tucson. Currently, there is no official news regarding its launch here, but in case of its launch, the SUV might come at a price of Rs 1.65 crore.
