Citroen’s First Premium SUV in Nepal: C5 Aircross – Specs and Launch Details
The entry of the French brand, Citroen with the launch of its premium SUV – Citroen C5 Aircross with the exclusive price is expected to bring a lot of excitement to the car enthusiasts in Nepal. There isn’t much time left for you to see the fresh car brand rolling in the country.
Previously reported to launch in 2020, which got delayed due to the crisis followed by the coronavirus pandemic, the French brand is likely to enter Nepal during mid-2021. Shangrila Motors Private Limited, the authorized distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Nepal, is assigned to bring Citroen vehicles as well in the country and they are preparing to bring the SUV till the end of March in the country.
Recently unveiled in India, C5 Aircross will be launched in two variants, Feel and Shine. After the launch, the premium SUV is facing tough competition with Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, etc.

Design
As you look at the exterior, it is instantly noticeable that the design is remarkably beautiful to turn heads around whilst it makes an appearance in Nepal. The quirky and stylish design includes the double-chevron logo featured upfront in the nose. The logo extends into two chrome strips that subtly presents sleek looking DRLs on either side. The front of the C5 is further enhanced by a split headlamp cluster below the DRLs and chunky looking trapezoid air intakes at the lower part of the bumper. Similarly, air intakes could be seen on the sides of the doors as well. Further to the sides, there is a C-shaped chrome surround on the window that has given dynamic look and it beautifully sits on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The upright rear of the SUV has distinctive rectangle LED lights that make the whole area shine.
Interior
As you scan the cabin, you will find it very stylish with premium materials over most of the places. There is a unique touch at the doors with multiple layers and textures and a different looking lever that stands out. The seats of the SUV seems extremely comfortable and the cabin comes with a good amount of storage as well. The rear seats seem to be comfortable enough for 3 adults and the seats can be individually shifted. There is no armrest on the rear but it does have a flat floor so, that will help for enough legroom. The boot space is 580 litres that can be expanded to 1630 litres. The rear seats can be folded easily as it works individually. Plus, the lip of the SUV is not high that makes travelling with big luggage. The C5 Aircross comes in two driving modes: Eco and Sport. Whilst this premium SUV is aimed for luxury and comfort, it is also claimed to deliver a flying carpet-like experience.
Features
The C5 Aircross features an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, air purifier, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, cruise control, auto lights and wipers, rear defogger, tire pressure monitoring system, electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, powered driver seat, puddle lamps, heated wing mirrors, and handsfree park assist. The SUV has a fuel capacity of 52.5-litres.
Dimension
Based on a Groupe PSA’s EMP2 platform, C5 Aircross will have dimensions of, 500mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,670mm in height (wheelbase of 2,730mm).
Engine
Mechanically, it gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 177PS and 400 NM of torque and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Moreover, it has a ground clearance of 230mm and a turning radius of 5.35 meters.
Safety features
Safety features of the SUV include 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, blind-spot monitoring, traction control, front and parking sensors, rearview camera, hill descent control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitor, ISOFIX anchors (rear and co-driver). Suspension duties are handled by Macpherson Strut Suspension With Double Progressive Hydraulic Cushions upfront and Twist Beam Axle With Single Progressive Hydraulic Cushions at the rear.

The price for the Citroen C5 Aircross is not announced by the firm yet. However, the premium SUV’s estimated price is more than Rs 1,50,00,000 in Nepal.
