Citroen pulls the wrap off the eC3 in India
Citroen India has unveiled its first electric vehicle–the eC3. The new electric hatchback adopts similar design elements as its petrol variant, and it will be powered by a 29.2 kWh battery that provides a range of 320 km, according to ARAI. The new EV is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2023, and it will serve as a rival to the Tata Tiago EV.
Design and features
While the original silhouette of the EV remains the same as its ICE-powered models, the new eC3 comes with new design changes such as a new charging port on the front fender, a revised centre console, and the elimination of the tailpipe. All other design elements remain the same as in the petrol variants.

The eC3 shares the same features as its petrol variants, such as a three-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a height adjustable driver’s seat, the MyCitroen Connect app (with 35 features), two riding modes (Eco and Standard), dual airbags, and ABS with EBD, among others.
Powertrain
The eC3 will be powered by a 29.2 kWh battery pack, derived from the Chinese company Svolt, that will generate a peak power of 57 hp and a peak torque of 143 Nm. The company says that the EV can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in 6.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 107 kmph.
For charging, the EV will come with a 3.3 kW charger that charges the EV from 10-100% in 10.5 hours, and with the use of a DC fast charger, the eC3 gets charged from 10-80% in 57 minutes. And on a single charge, the electric hatchback will provide an ARAI-certified range of 320 km.
