Hyundai Exter soon to be launched in India

Hyundai Motor India is readying to roll out its new micro SUV–the Exter. The new SUV will be offered in five variants: the EX, the S, the SX, the SX (O), and the SX (O) Connect, along with three powertrain options. The Exter will sit below the Venue SUV in Hyundai’s India line-up, which will be the most affordable SUV, according to the company. The company has already commenced Exter’s booking, and it is expected to be launched in mid-July.

Design and features

The Exter gets a boxy parametric design language. The front fascia features a parametric grille and projector headlamps with H-shaped LED DRLs, and on the rear, the SUV gets LED taillamps and an H-shaped LED lighting bar. Other notable features are its diamond-shaped alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna, dual-tone colour options with a floating roof effect, and sporty skid plates. Whereas, for the SUV’s interior, the company has yet to reveal any details.

The Exter comes equipped with notable features such as 6 airbags as standard, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), HAC (Hill Assist Control), keyless entry, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ESS, burglar Alarm, 3-Point Seat Belt & seatbelt reminder (all seats), headlamp escort function, auto headlamps, ISOFIX, rear defogger and rear parking camera, dash cam with dual camera, and TPMS (Highline), among others, depending upon the variants.

Powertrain

The Exter will be available in two engine options: a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and a 1.2-litre bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine will come mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai Exter price in India

Hyundai India is planning to launch the new Exter in five variants—the EX, the S, the SX, the SX (O), and the SX (O) Connect—in mid-July. The company hasn’t revealed the SUV’s pricing yet, but fans can expect it to come at a base price of INR 6.50 lakh. The SUV will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
