Jeep unveils its first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV): the Avenger

Jeep has unveiled its first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV)–the Avenger–at the 2022 Paris Auto Show. The Avenger comes with a 54 kWh battery pack that provides a combined range of 400 km; along with an increased range of 550 km in urban conditions. The company also revealed the Avenger 4X4 concept.

Commenting on the occasion, Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO, said:“The new Jeep Avenger represents a key milestone for the brand as it is the first of a portfolio of all-new Jeep BEVs to be introduced in Europe. It offers Jeep brand capability that is right sized for the European market and at the Paris Motor Show, we are showcasing why it is a great all-electric Jeep brand alternative to current players in the B-SUV segment.”

Design

The Avenger gets a boxy shape and rugged styling. The front fascia features the brand’s signature seven-slot grille which further extends to the sleek LED headlights. And at the rear, the Jeep gets LED taillights and the brand’s logo just below the rear windshield. Furthermore, the car stands on 18-inch (dual-tone) wheels. For interior, the EV comes with multi-colour ambient lighting, leather-upholstered seats, a 7-inch or a 10.25-inch digital cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

The all-new Avenger comes equipped with notable features such as Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), sunroof, UConnect 10 (integrated with infotainment system), OTA updates, USB ports, ABS, Jeep’s standard Selec-Terrain, and Hill Descent Control, among others.

Battery

The Avenger is powered by a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that generates 156 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque. The EV is front wheel drive; however, an all-wheel-drive 4X4 model (with dual motor) will be available too. For charging, the e-SUV is compatible with a 100 kWh DC fast charger and using this charger, the EV gets charged from 0-80% in 30 minutes. On a single charge, the car provides a combined range of 400 km (according to WLTP), whereas, for the urban environment, the range gets increased up to 550 km.
