Kia EV6 launched in India: Price, features and specifications

After the success of two EV models: the Soul and the Niro, Kia has finally launched its much-anticipated EV6 electric crossover in India. The electric crossover, powered by a 77.4 kWh battery, has been launched in 2 variants: GT Line RWD and GT-Line AWD.

The authorised distributor of Kia vehicles in Nepal, Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., has been planning to launch the electric crossover for the last 6 months. However, there is no official announcement on when it will be released in Nepal.

Design and Dimension:

The muscular design of the EV6 gives it a sporty look. In the front section, we can see a new corporate grille called “Tiger Nose”. It comes with dual LED headlights along with DRLs (Daytime Running Light) that give a sportier edge to its design. The side profile comes with a sleek design with significant crease lines on the rear end, EV6 features a sloping C pillar with an integrated gloss-black design for the ultimate aerodynamic performance.

The EV features a pair of curved 12.3-inch displays: one with a digital instrument cluster and the other with easy to use widescreen infotainment system. The 5-seater EV6 is designed with vegan leather materials that provide a premium feel.

The dimensions of EV6 are 4680 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1545 mm in height. The wheelbase sits at 2900mm. In profile, the EV6 looks like a crossover even though the ground clearance of the EV6 is relatively less (154 mm) than most crossover vehicles. Furthermore, it has a boot space of 490 litres that can be expanded up to 1300 litres.

Battery and Performance:

The EV6 comes with two battery options: 77.4 kWh and 58 kWh with two electric motor options: single and dual motor. According to the authorised distributor, the EV6 is likely to be available with 77.4 kWh of battery with dual electric motor options.

Kia has an 800V charging architecture that can be charged to 80% of its capacity in 18 minutes, whereas it takes 7 hours and 20 minutes to charge from 10-100% via a home charger. 

For charging, the EV–built with 800V charging architecture–can go from 0-80% in 18 minutes via a 100 kW fast charger and via a 7 kW home charger, the vehicle can charge from 0-100% in 7 hours 20 minutes. 

Furthermore, it can supply up to 3.6 kW of power to external devices or other electric vehicles. The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model generates 226 bhp power and 350 Nm torque.

Features

Talking about the features of EV6, there are a bunch of features that are promising and convenient to use. The vehicle has a virtual reality head-up monitor that displays ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance) navigation guidance and a bunch of specialised driver protection tools.

Another highlighting feature of EV6 is the automatic defogging and dual automatic air conditioning, allowing the car to find the solution for the fogged window via a moisture sensor that is mounted just behind the rear-view mirror. Along with this, different other features like a smart entry system, a heated steering wheel and front seats, EBP (Electronic Parking Brake) with auto-hold feature, tyre mobility kit.

EV6 does come with different features regarding the safety of the person inside the vehicle. The next-generation highway driving assistant provides you with information about the nearby cars by using the cameras placed around the exterior of the vehicle. The EV6 also comes with a blind-spot view monitor, and forward view collision avoidance assist.
