KIA Sonet Now Available Here in Nepal – Three Times Pricey than India
One of the world’s largest automakers, KIA Motors Corporation manufactured the all-new smart urban compact SUV Sonet at KIA’s state-of-the-art production facility at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
After the official launch of KIA Motor’s Sonet on September 18, 2020, in India, this subcompact SUV has made its way to Nepal being one of the first export destinations among 70 countries.
The price tag for this beautiful model in India is between 6.71 Lakh and 11.99 Lakh INR (ex-showroom). In that case, the price tag for Nepal–spec model is about 3 times costlier; starting from NPR 35,90,000, 1.2-liter petrol engine, HTE variant. Three variants come under the 1.5 diesel engines; HTX, HTK+ AT, and GTX+ variant with price tags of 47.90 Lakh, 49.90 Lakh, and 57.90 Lakh respectively.
Let’s get more insight about the specifications of the new Sonet

The KIA Sonet wears a sleek exterior design along with the brand’s signature styling traits like ‘tiger-nose’ grille, with a 3D ‘stepwell’ geometric grille mesh. Some of the design highlights feature LED headlights and LED DRLs, sleek blacked-out front grille, prominent front bumper, front and rear skid plates, blacked-out pillars, top-mounted brake lights, wraparound rear windscreen, bumper reflectors, and edgy LED tail lamps. The entry-level variant gets standard wheels whereas top-spec variants get 16-inch alloy wheels.
Moving forward to the cabin, the front is decorated with a metallic, diamond-knurled pattern along with vertically framed air vents. Comfort is maintained through a spacious interior equipped with a digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch HD touchscreen with navigation, and sound mood lighting, etc

The 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine develops 82 hp power and 115 Nm torque when paired with a 5-speed manual. While the interesting fact here remains to be a 1.5-liter diesel engine which develops 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque when paired with the 6-speed manual and a meatier 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque when paired with the 6-speed automatic.
The key safety features include six airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), front and rear parking sensors, projector fog lamps, Highline tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto headlamps, ISOFIX child-seat anchoring points, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), and BA (brake assist).
