Mahindra heads towards new electric car “XUV 300 EV”

Mahindra is upcoming with an electric XUV as with the growing similar to the other motor vehicles. The electric motor will have a capable of producing 132 PS of power, the new XUV is expected to be as fast than the contemporary fossil-fueled vehicle. Mahindra’s managing director revealed in December last year that the car will be available in two variants, one aimed at commuters and affordability, and another long-range Aspirational XUV300 EV. And the prices of these electric SUV are expected to start from INRs 10 lakh (Indian RS).

The Mahindra XUV EV is expected to come with a 40 kWh battery and DC fast charging, enough for a range of 300 km. This number might be a conservative estimate as Mahindra is working with LG Chem to produce Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) Lithium-ion batteries for this vehicle. This technology is part of current pre-production research at Tesla and will provide a higher energy density per unit volume than conventional Li-ion cells. The Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf uses these batteries currently for now.

Mahindra is also planning on launching all-electric KUV 100 in near future as the company has been working effectively on its battery capacities. With the collective expertise and experience of Mahindra these EVs will likely be more competitive with world market cars. With the Mahindra planning to electrify the news of this XUV300 electric seems to be back in the electric game after a few gap of time.
