‘Mahindra ScorpioN’- Will it be the new name for the next-gen Scorpio?

Mahindra and Mahindra have filed a trademark application for the new name of the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio SUV in India. Two different iterations of the name ‘ScorpioN’ and ‘Mahindra ScorpioN’ are registered by the company to be trademarked according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Patent Design and Trademarks website.

However, just because any company registers a name doesn’t mean that they are going to use it for sure. Let’s keep a contrast on the earlier year step of Mahindra when they trademarked the name ‘Scorpio Sting’ in India. Everyone believed that it could be the name of the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio or possibly a final edition of the outgoing generation version of the popular SUV. We have the same belief in the ScorpioN as well. Well, it can be used for next-gen Scorpio or they could give it to the special/sporty variant of the SUV with a more powerful engine.

What we know about the next-gen Mahindra SUV so far?

According to the reports, the SUV is likely to receive a new 2.0L turbocharged petrol motor from the mStallion engine family. The petrol motor is set to produce power worth 150bhp with 320Nm of torque. The other option remains to be a diesel motor of a powerful 2.2L mHawk unit that generates 130bhp and 320Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes are the transmission options.

Furthermore, we expect to have newly-designed headlamps with LED DRLs, a 5-slot grille, a longer hood, and a slightly tweaked front bumper with wide air intakes in this upcoming beast. What more makes the news exciting is the new-gen SUV will be bigger than the current generation with an extended C-pillar. Additionally, it will feature a freshly designed interior and a new dashboard that will feature a large touchscreen infotainment system, a new multi-functional steering wheel, and new rear AC vents. Stay on the space for the latest updates.
