Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara soon to be launched in Nepal

CG MotoCorp, the authorised distributor of Maruti Suzuki vehicles in Nepal, is readying to launch its new flagship SUV–the Grand Vitara–in the Nepalese market. The Grand Vitara is based on the global C-platform and the company’s first model manufactured by the Suzuki-Toyota partnership. The new SUV is likely to be offered in two petrol-engine options: a Smart Hybrid engine developed by Suzuki and a Toyota-based Intelligent Electric Hybrid (IEH) engine.

Design and features

The Grand Vitara’s front fascia features a wide grille with piano black inserts and a prominent chrome bar with a centrally embedded Suzuki badge, and on the rear is the company’s signature NEXTre’ taillamps. Furthermore, the SUV stands on 17-inch alloy wheels and it might be offered in both single-tone and dual-tone colour options.

Inside, the SUV comes with either a dual-tone interior with silver accents or an all-black interior with champagne gold accents, depending upon the model. The dashboard features a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with mounted control buttons, either a 4.2-inch TFT display or a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, depending on the variant, and a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Grand Vitara is expected to come equipped with notable features such as six airbags, 360-view camera, reverse parking camera, ESP, vehicle-stability control, hill-hold/descent control, rear parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, keyless entry, push start/stop button, and automatic AC with rear AC vents, among others.

Powertrain

The Grand Vitara is expected to be offered in two petrol-engine options: a Smart Hybrid engine developed by Suzuki and a Toyota-based Intelligent Electric Hybrid (IEH) engine.

The Smart Hybrid engine is powered by a 1.5-litre K-series mild-hybrid engine that generates a peak power of 100 hp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 135 Nm at 4000 rpm. For transmission, the engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Intelligent Electric Hybrid engine is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that is mated to a 59 kW motor. The petrol engine alone can generate a power of 91 hp and a torque of 122 Nm; and the SUV can generate a combined output of 115 hp.
