Maruti Suzuki Planning for Four New Hatchbacks

As per the reports, it is known that Maruti Suzuki is working on a wide variety of new SUVs and MPVs. It is expected that the Indian automaker will introduce three new hatchbacks and a facelift version of its esteemed model Swift hatchback in the coming two years.

So, what do we have for the upcoming models From Maruti?

New Alto

Maruti Suzuki is also reported to be working on replacing the aged Alto with an all-new entry-level hatchback. Similar to the Celerio, the new model will also be based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform inspired by the WagonR.

Well, the precise information about the hatch is still under the wraps but, it is likely to get receive comprehensive changes inside and out. The powertrain is likely including 796cc naturally-aspirated petrol engine delivering 48bhp and 69Nm with both manual and AMT gearboxes option.

Suzuki XL5

With the prospect of bringing a more premium version of the WagonR hatchback, Maruti Suzuki is constantly working on the new model, which is rumored to be called the XL5. As the XL5 will be inspired by the WagonR, it is possible to get similar design aspects; however, the XL5 will receive a newly-designed front grille and a revised bumper. Additional changes will include split headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail-lamps, and Nexa Blue color scheme.

Mechanically, XL5 is likely to get a BSVI compliant 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that produces 77bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

New Celerio

The new generation Celerio from Maruti is likely to get an official launch within 3-4 months in India. Inspired by the Maruti WagonR, the next-gen Celerio will be based on the new Heatect platform with a little boxier, tall-boy look with crossover-like design cues.

The inside of the model is likely to get major upgrades including the features and the layout. The hatchback will feature 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The Celerio is likely to be offered with 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12 petrol, and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10 petrol option. While the former produces 83bhp and 114Nm of torque, the latter generates 68bhp and 90Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed MT and an AMT.

 The Celerio, after the launch, will rival the likes of the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and Datsun Go.

Swift Facelift

The best-selling model of the Maruti Suzuki; Swift is ready to get its facelift version. Recently spied in Gujarat, India, the facelift is likely to be launched within this year. Built on the HEARTECT platform, Swift has been successful to become the lightest car in its segment.

We expect this model to get revised front profile; a new grille with honeycomb mesh pattern and chrome trim including changes in the bumper and reshaped LED headlamps. It is also expected to get new allow wheels.

The probable production ready Swift could feature the K12C petrol mild hybrid engine that’s offered on the higher variants of the Baleno. This particular motor is good for 90 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The regular model will continue to feature the 1.2L K-Series engine producing 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT versions will be on offer.
