Maruti Suzuki set to launch the Fronx on 24 July in Nepal
CG Motocorp, the authorised distributor for Suzuki four-wheelers in Nepal, is readying to launch its new compact crossover–the Maruti Fronx–in the Nepalese market. The Maruti Fronx, based on the company’s Baleno hatchback, might be available in two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre dualjet engine and a 1.0-liter turbo engine, similar to the Indian variant of the Frox. The new crossover is likely to be available in several variants at an expected price between Rs 35-45 lakh.
Design
The new Maruti Fronx is based on the company’s Heartect platform (like Baleno models) that gets the same wheelbase of 2520 mm as the Baleno hatchback; however, the Fronx is 5 mm longer, 20 mm wider and 50 mm taller, comparatively. The crossover’s front fascia features an all-black NEXWAVE front grille and auto headlamps with NEXTRE LED DRLs. At the rear, the Fronx comes with split LED tail lamps that are connected by a horizontal LED light bar. The Fronx’s cabin, inspired from the Baleno model, gets dual-tone plush interiors. Other notable interior features are its leather-upholstered seats, a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, instrument console, either a nine-inch or seven-inch infotainment system (depending upon the variants) that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powertrain
The Maruti Fronx will be offered in two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre dualjet engine and a 1.0-liter turbo engine. The 1.2-litre dualjet-petrol engine–mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission (depending upon the variants)–produces a peak power of 89 hp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. Meanwhile, the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generates a peak power of 98 hp and a peak torque of 148 Nm. For transmission, the engine is also offered with either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission (depending upon the variants). The company has also claimed the crossover to provide a mileage of 20-22 kmpl.
