MG might introduce the Comet EV at NADA Auto Show 2023 in Nepal
Paramount Motors, the authorised distributor of MG vehicles in Nepal, is expected to introduce its new two-door micro EV–the Comet EV–for the Nepalese market. The new Comet EV, which is based on Wuling’s Air model, will be powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack that offers a maximum range of 230 km. The new EV is expected to come at an expected price of Rs 24–28 lakh, which serves as a rival to the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3.
Design
The new Comet’s design is based on Wuling’s Air model. The EV measures 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width, and 1631 mm in height, and it has a wheelbase of 2010 mm. The Comet also comes with notable design elements such as LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 12-inch alloy wheels, and a LED strip that extends throughout the body. Furthermore, the EV might be offered in both mono-tone and dual-tone colour options. And for interiors, the EV will come with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a dual 10.25-inch floating screen.
The Comet EV is expected to share same notable features as its Indian variants, which includes the iSmart system with 55+ connected car features and 100+ voice commands, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a parking camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts and seat belt reminders, three-point seatbelts for all four seats, leather-upholstered seats, and riding modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport).
Powertrain
The Comet EV is powered by the 17.3 kWh battery pack as standard. The battery is mated to a single PSMS that is capable of generating a peak power of 41.4 hp and a peak torque of 110 Nm. Furthermore, the company claims that the EV can reach a top speed of 100 kmph. For charging, the EV gets fully charged via a 3.3 kW charger in around 7 hours. And on a single charge, the micro EV provides a maximum range of 230 km.
