MG Hector’s diesel engine to get more powerful

MG Hector is one of the innovative car of 2019 and the company is planning on for the expansion the Hector lineup with a new powerful diesel variant that will go on sale in 2022.

The new diesel engine will be developed by SAIC. It will be equipped with a 2.0 litre twin -turbocharged diesel engine which will be able to produce peak power of 218 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. The powertrains of new diesel variant MG will be adopted from the new MG Maxus D90 SUV.

The current MG Hector’s diesel variant is equipped with a Fiat-sourced 2.0 litre engine giving a max power of 168 bhp and torque 350 Nm whereas the petrol variant is powered with a 1.5 l, four cylinder turbocharged engine giving power of 141 bhp and torque of 250 Nm. Both of the diesel and petrol have 6 speed manual gearbox.

It was also reported that the new MG Hector SUV lineup will also be available in hybrid powertrain that comprises of 1.5 l motor with a 48 volt mild hybrid system. It can be equipped with 6 speed dual-clutch transmission where the lithium-ion battery allows storing energy which gives extra 20 Nm of torque.

As MG ZS EV had successfully launched and retailed recently along with that we hope to see the new MG Hector in Nepal too.
