Nokia 8 Sirocco launched at MWC 2018

HMD Global, the official distributor of Nokia phones, has launched their latest flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8 Sirocco at MWC 2018. As the name suggests, the phone is the follow up to last years Nokia 8. With an expected price tag of around $920, here is everything the phone has to offer.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco packs a 5.5 inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560) pOLED display with a pixel density of 554PPI. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and is edged out by a 2.5D glass.  Under the hood, the Nokia 8 Sirocco packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with the Adreno 540 GPU. The processor is backed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage respectively. The internal storage can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB but only at the expense of the dual-sim support the phone comes with.

Nokia with this phone has given high priority to the cameras! It packs a dual camera set up made by a f/1.7 12 MP wide lens and a f/2.6 13MP telephoto leans. These sensors are also backed by OIS and laser autofocus. The Nokia 8 Sirocco too has a 5MP front camera with large pixels for all your selfies. The Nokia 8 Sirocco also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner embedded into the phone’s back panel. Other sensors include an accelerometer, compass, proximity sensor and a gyroscope. Software-wise, the phone runs an almost stock version of Android 8.0 Oreo. And finally powering this device all up is a 3260mAh non-user removable battery. This will be enough to get users a full day worth of battery life without any issues. And if the battery does run out there is the inclusion of Quick Charge 4.0 and USB Type C port for faster charging time.
