The Oppo A16, revealed in Indonesia during mid-July, has finally arrived in Nepal. The phone is a predecessor of the Oppo A15, which was released last year, and the new model comes as an entry-level smartphone with decent specification and price in Nepal. Design
The Oppo A16’s design does not veer away from its predecessor, the Oppo A15. The phone stands on a plastic body and the rear panel features a shiny metallic finish. A triple camera setup on the top-right corner and Oppo branding on the rear-left corner pack the rear panel of the phone. Meanwhile, the device’s front gets a waterdrop notch on the central top. The power button of the phone is on the right side, with an integrated fingerprint sensor on it. The left side gets volume rockers and a Simcard tray. The top end is clean and the buttom end has a speaker grille, USB Type-C port, primary microphone, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Display
For the display, the company offers the Oppo A16 with a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD display that has a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate 60Hz. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9, a screen-to-body ratio of 88.7%, and a colour gamut of 71% NTSC. The typical brightness of the device is 480 nits, and the phone has 269 ppi density.
Camera
For the optics department, the Oppo A16 gets a triple camera setup at the rear comprising of a 13 MP primary camera with an aperture of f/2.2 (which also supports autofocus), a 2 MP portrait camera with an aperture of f/2.4, and a 2 MP macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4. For selfies, the device gets an 8 MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Both of the camera setups, front and rear, can record 1080p videos at 30fps. The phone also supports AI features such as AI beautification, Dazzling Mode, and Bokeh filters.
Performance
The Oppo A16 is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 paired with octa-core (4 x 2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 and 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53). For GPU, the phone gets PowerVR GE8320, and it gets an operating system of ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11. The company has offered a System Booster feature to reduce the system lag, and the Game assistant feature is provided to control performance level, brightness level, and notifications while gaming.
Other specs
The Oppo A16 phone gets a side-mounted fingerprinter sensor and faces recognition features to unlock the phone. Fueling the device is a massive 5000 mAh battery pack that is paired with a 10W adapter for charging (Type-C port). However, the company has not mentioned fast charging capability.
The phone gets 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage; the latter can be extended via an external microSD card. The phone’s connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, and USB Type-C.
