Samsung Galaxy Note8 unveiled

Samsung, in an event, launched their latest phablet the Samsung Galaxy Note8. After the whole fiasco with the Galaxy Note 7 exploding, Samsung is back with the next iteration of the phone. The Note8, much like the trend of today, introduces their first ever dual camera set up on a smartphone. It also offers some other interesting hardware and software choices which we will dive into to know more.

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 packs a 6.3-inch Quad-HD AMOLED infinity display with a pixel density of 521 PPI. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and is edged out by a less pronounced edge display. The phone combines both glass and metal to provide a premium looking and feeling device. Under the hood, the Note8 packs an octa-core Exynos 8895 processor along with the Mali-G71 MP20 GPU. The processor is backed by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The internal memory can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB. The phone also supports dual sim cards but only at the expense of the micro-sd card slot. The phone also is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes

In the camera department, the Note8 packs a dual-camera set up with a combination of two 12MP sensors with f/1.7 and f/2.4 aperture. Both the camera also comes equipped with inbuilt OIS. The secondary camera, just like the one on the iPhone 7 Plus is used for a 2X optical zoom. There is also a f/1.7 8MP front camera for all your high-res selfies. The Note8 also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner which is placed awkwardly at the back of the phone-alongside the cameras. Other sensors include an iris scanner, barometer, accelerometer, compass, proximity sensor, heart-rate scanner and a gyroscope. Software wise, the phone runs Android 7.1 Nougat with Samsung’s own custom skin, Grace UX over laid on top of it. The phone, being a note device, comes with a s-pen and a slew of software tweaks to go with it. And finally powering this device all up is a 3300mAh non-user removable battery. This will be enough to get users a full day worth of battery life without any issues. And if the battery does run out there is the inclusion of Fast Charge and USB Type C port for faster charging time.

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is one of the hottest smartphones of the year! It will be available in market from 10 October in black, gray and gold color variant. Pricing of the phone starts from Rs.1,02,990.
