Skoda launches three new cars for Indian Market
Skoda India has finally launched all its three new cars in Indian market, as announced. The newly launched Skoda cars includes Skoda Karoq SUV, Skoda Superb Facelift and BS-6 Rapid 1.0 TSI. The new BS-6 Skoda Rapid TSI is fixed at the starting price of INRs 7.49 lakhs – INRs 11.8 lakhs, Karoq is fixed at INRs 24.99 lakhs and new Superb facelift begins at INRs 29.99 lakhs. All these three cars were previously showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 but due to the COVID-19 outbreak it was delayed.
SKODA KAROQ
Skoda Karoq is a much anticipated an all new vehicle for the market, it’s a five seater mid-size SUV. This mid sized SUV is powered by a 1.5 litre TSI petrol engine which produces power of 150 PS @ 5000 rpm and 250 NM of torque @ 1500 – 3500 rpm. The engine is paired with 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox and fuel efficiency is claimed for 14.49 km/l. Karoq gets a signature butterfly grille flanked by swept-back LED headlamps with LED eyelashes. The bumper gets sleek airdams, mesh-pattern grille, and a splitter. Other notable features on the Karoq include sporty Anthracite alloy wheels, slide cladding, flared wheel arches, split tail lights with C-shaped LED signature, and wide Skoda lettering across the boot lid.
It has been offered with eight-inch infotainment system with proximity sensor and voice command control, a fully digital instrument panel, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, key-less entry, panoramic sunroof, 10-colour ambient lighting, 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat, etc. The Karoq also offers a generous boot capacity of 521-litres. In terms of safety features Karoq gets nine airbags, ABS, tyre pressure management system, driver fatigue alert system, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, parking assistant, etc. Karoq will be competing with the Jeep Compass, Kia Seltos, and the Volkswagen T-Roc.
2020 SKODA Superb Facelift
SKODA Superb Facelift launch event was initially scheduled for April however now the wait is over. This Superb Facelift sedan is powered by a new BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI engine which makes 190PS of power @ 4200 rpm and 320Nm of torque @ 1450 rpm paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard.This engine claims to deliver fuel efficiency of 15.1 km/l/. The new Superb gets a new redesigned bumper, sleeker fog lamps, new design for the alloy wheels, a chrome strip joining the tail lights and a Matrix LED headlamps. Two new variants are offered by Superb sedan : L&K (Laurin & Klement) and Sportline. The L&K model gets dual-tone interior whereas Sportline gets all-black interior.It gets four driving modes — Eco, Sport, Normal, Individual.
2020 Skoda Superb gets features like a fully digital instrument panel, eight-inch infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, puddle lamp, Canton sound system (L&K version), multi-zone climate control system, electric boot lid, 10-colour ambient lighting system, etc. Safety features includes eight airbags, multi collision braking, ABS, EBD, reverse parking camera, etc.
2020 SKODA Rapid
The new 2020 SKODA Rapid looks alike to the current BS-4 model but the new model is equipped with more powerful engine. The new 2020 Rapid is powered by 1.0 litre TSI engine which produces 110PS of power @ 5000 rpm and 175Nm of torque @ 1750 rpm. This engine is available with six-speed manual transmission only as of now but the company will also introduce torque converter automatic gearbox some time later. Skoda Rapid TSI returns a claimed fuel-economy figure of 18.97 km/l. The 2020 Skoda Rapid is available in five variants – Rider, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. The price varies as per the variants.
2020 Rapid includes features such as eight inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink connectivity, rain sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control system, rear AC vents, reverse parking camera, footwell illumination, height adjustable driver seat, four airbags, crusie control, ABS & EBD etc. Specifically no major changes has been made with this model besides the new TSI engine. Besides that 1.5-litre diesel engines have been discontinued.
