‘Sonalika Tiger’ Launched in India – Country’s First Field Ready E-Tractor

While the electrification of the automobile industry is a little slow in the Indian market, especially compared to Europe and the US, progress in that direction is steadily happening. While we’re still waiting for the launch a few passenger EVs, Sonalika has gone ahead and unveiled India’s first electric tractor – Tiger Electric.

A leading tractor manufacturer and supplier in India, Sonalika Tractor has recently launched India’s first-ever field-ready electric tractor, the ‘Tiger Electric’ with a price tag of INR 5,99,000.

According to the company, the Tiger Electric is designed in Europe, developed, and manufactured at Sonalika’s integrated tractor manufacturing facility at Hoshiarpur (Punjab).

“Our promise to every Indian farmer to constantly provide technological evolutions to enhance farm productivity and profitability comes packaged with Tiger Electric, where we have bridged the gap between concept and being field-ready, while keeping pace with global benchmarks in farm mechanisation technology,” said Raman Mittal, Executive Director, Sonalika Group at the launch.

Equipped with the Sonalika transmission, the powertrain of the E-tractor consists of a 25.5 kW, natural cooling, and compact battery with IP67 protection. The battery contained can be juiced up to full percentage using a regular home charging point in 10 hours. The company also offers an optional fast-charging system, which can charge Tiger Electric’s battery in just four hours. The E-tractor is set to offer a top speed of 24.93kmph and a battery backup of 8 hours while operating with a 2-tonne trolley.

“Sonalika Tractors has always been at the forefront of innovation and continue to offer best in class technology to the farmers across the globe, especially Europe and the USA. Our promise to every Indian farmer to constantly provide technological evolutions to enhance farm productivity and profitability comes packaged with Tiger Electric, where we have bridged the gap between concept and being field-ready while keeping pace with global benchmarks in farm mechanisation technology. It is built on the proven tractor platform of Sonalika to guarantee farmer friendliness and remains easy to use as we progress towards an emission-free, greener tomorrow,” Sonalika Group Executive Director Raman Mittal said.

“Tiger Electric operation is no different than regular tractor making it farmer-friendly while cutting off the fuel cost. As a customer-centric brand, we have consistently developed new products from time to time for the Indian farmers to offer customised solutions. Tiger electric has the same global technology marvel which is offered to European and American farmers,” he added.
