It was 25th of May in 2005 when Maruti launched the Swift in India, the car was being brought in mere months after it went on sale in Suzuki’s homeland of Japan promised much. The Maruti Swift was not going to be another last-gen hand-me-down product from abroad but a thoroughly modern one built to the latest international standards. The car after having launched caused a wildfire among general consumers and enthusiasts alike, and the car single handedly change the entire hatchback scene in the country.
Then, on the August of 2011, the second generation Swift was introduced and the stir that caused was even bigger. In many ways, the new car marked a return to form for Maruti and the Swift, what with its exciting handling and genuinely smile-inducing demeanour. Even increased competition couldn’t hamper the Swift’s unwavering popularity. To keep up the momentum, the Swift was updated in 2014 with more features such as Bluetooth telephone function and keyless go and many other features, as a result it set a whole new benchmark that others have been trying to beat still today.
Fast forward to 2018, the third generation Swift is ready to cause a bigger stir again, the new Swift features a curvier and edgy radiator grill and sharp headlamps featuring projector elements along with integrated daytime running lamps (DRLs).
