Tata launches the Altroz iCNG at INR 7.55 lakh in India

Tata Motors has launched the iCNG variant of its premium hatchback–the Altroz iCNG–in the Indian market. The Altroz iCNG, the brand’s third CNG variant offering after the Tiago and the Tigor models, is the first model to feature a twin-cylinder CNG system in India. The company has offered the new hatchback in six variants: the XE, the XM+, the XM+ (S), the XZ, the XZ+ (S), and the XZ+O(S)–at a starting price of Rs 7.55 lakh.

Commenting on the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Customers are increasingly choosing alternate fuel options with the intent of economical as well as eco-friendly drive. CNG as a fuel with its wide availability and accessibility has gained a lot of acceptance. However, opting for a CNG meant compromising on aspirational features and to give up boot space significantly. In January 2022, we addressed the first compromise by launching the advanced iCNG technology in Tiago and Tigor, offering superior performance and top -end features. Today, we are delighted to launch the Altroz iCNG, an industry first offering which will redefine the CNG market by addressing the major concern on boot space.”

Design and features

The Altroz iCNG gets the same design as the standard Altroz models. The hatchback comes with notable exterior design elements such as dual chamber projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a bold front grille with chrome accents, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a shark fin antenna. Furthermore, the hatchback has been offered in four different colors: Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, and Avenue White. And for interior, the Altroz iCNG models come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a four-inch digital instrument console, leather-upholstered seats, and a seven-inch infotainment system that is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The hatchback comes equipped with notable safety features such as dual front airbags, advanced ABS with EBD and corner stability control, reverse parking camera and sensors, auto headlamps, and central lock switch system. As for convenience, the Altroz iCNG comes with 4 speakers, central locking, keyless entry, iRA technology, electric sunroof, air purifier, rear AV vent, height adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charger, and power window, among others.

The new Altroz iCNG is powered by the brand’s 1.2-litre Revotron engine that comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
