Tata launches the Altroz XM and the XM(S) trims in India
Tata Motors has updated its Altroz lineup with the addition of two new variants—the XM and the XM (S)—in the Indian market. The two new variants come with upgraded features and are exclusively available with a 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine option only, which sits between the entry-level XE trim and the top-level XM+ variant. The company has offered the XM trims at an introductory price of INR 6.90 lakh and the XM (S) at INR 7.35 lakh.
Design and features
The XM and the XM(S) variants share the same design as the other Altroz trims that come with notable exterior design elements such as: raked grille, dual chamber projector headlamps, piano black ORVMs with chrome accents, large fog lamps with LED DRLs, split-LED tail lamps, and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, among others. Furthermore, these two mid-spec variants are available in seven different colours: Cosmo black, High-street gold, Opera blue, Downtown red, Arcade grey, Avenue white, Harbour blue. Inside, the hatchback comes with notable interior design elements such as black and grey interiors, flat bottom steering wheel, a four-inch LCD instrument console, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. And on top, the hatchback comes with a black contrast roof.
The company has updated its Altroz lineup with new standard features across different variants. Now, all petrol manual variants include remote keyless entry and all four power windows; the base variant XE comes with rear power windows, remote keyless entry, and follow-me-home lamps as standard; and the XM and the XM(S) trims now get reverse cameras, cruise control, and a dashboard style resembling the top-spec trim as standard. Additionally, the XT variant will have a height-adjustable driver’s seat, 16-inch hyperstyle wheels, and a rear defogger.
Powertrain
The XM and the XM(S) is powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine-which comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission–that is capable of generating a peak power of 86 hp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 115 Nm at 3250 rpm. The hatchback comes with a fuel tank capacity of 37-litre and it provides a fuel efficiency of 19.33 kmpl.

Tata Altroz XM and XM(S) price in India
Tata Motors India has launched the new Altroz XM at an introductory price of INR 6.90 lakh and the XM(S) trim at an introductory price of INR 7.35 lakh. The hatchback serves as a rival to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Although there is no official news regarding its launch here, the fans can expect it to cost around Rs 35-40 lakh.
Currently, Tata Nepal offers the Altroz in three variants–the XM, the XM+ BS6, and the XZ–at a starting price of Rs 32.50 lakh.
