Tata Motors opens bookings for the Tiago EV in Nepal

Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd, the authorised distributor of Tata vehicles in Nepal, has commenced bookings of its much-awaited electric hatchback–the Tiago EV. The new Tiago EV will be based on the latest ICE-powered Tiago models, and it will be offered in two battery pack options: a 19.2 kWh and a 24 kWh. The company has offered the electric hatchback in four variants: the XE (medium range), the XT (medium and long range), the XZ+ (long range), and XZ+ Tech Plus (long range).

Design and features

The new Tiago EV will get a similar design to its ICE-powered variants; however, the electric hatchback’s front fascia features a refreshed grille with an EV badge that extends to the projector headlamps with DRLs. Furthermore, the EV will be offered in five colour options: Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Midnight Plum, and Tropical Mist. In terms of its dimensions, the electric hatchback will measure 3769 mm in length, 1677 mm in width, and 1536 mm in height; it will come with a wheelbase of 2400 mm. Inside, the EV comes with leather-upholstered seats, and among the seats, the driver’s seat is height-adjustable. On the dashboard is a steering wheel with mounted control buttons, and behind it is a digital instrument console that displays a speedometer and tachometer dial. For infotainment, the EV comes equipped with a 7-inch HARMAN touchscreen display that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Tiago EV comes equipped with ZConnect technology—integrated with the infotainment system and accessible via smartphones—that offers 45 connected car features such as remote AC on/off with temperature setting, remote geofencing and car location tracking, smart watch connectivity, remote vehicle health diagnostics, real-time charge status, and a dynamic charger locator, among others. Other notable features are its driver and co-driver airbags, driving modes (Sport and City), ABS with EBD, reverse park assist, driving modes, electric adjustable ORVMs, and power windows, among others.

Powertrain

The Tiago EV is offered in two IP67-rated battery options: a 19.2 kWh and a 24 kWh. The 19.2 kWh battery, mated to a 45 kW PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors), produces a maximum torque of 110 Nm and provides a maximum range of 250 km. The EV can be charged from 10-100 % in 5.1 hours via a 3.3 kW home charger and the same amount can be charged in 2.6 hours using a 7.2kW AC charger. In addition, the battery is also compatible with a DC fast charger. Meanwhile, the 24 kWh battery–paired to a 55 kW PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors)–generates a maximum torque of 114 Nm and offers a maximum range of 315 km. The EV takes 6.4 hours to charge from 10-100% via a 3.3 kW home charger and requires 3.6 hours to charge the same amount using a 7.2 kW AC charger. Moreover, the battery is also compatible with a DC fast charger.

Tata Motors Nepal has opened bookings of the Tiago EV in four variants: the XE (medium range), the XT (medium and long range), the XZ+ (long range), and XZ+ Tech Plus (long range). There is no news regarding its pricing yet, but it will be the most affordable EV in Nepal and fans can expect it to come at a base price of Rs 28 lakh.
