Tata set to unveil the Tiago EV on 28 September

Tata Motors has announced its plan to launch the electric version of the entry level hatchback–the Tiago–on 28 September. The Tiago EV will be based on the latest ICE-powered Tiago and it is expected to use the brand’s Ziptron technology. The Tiago EV will be the brand’s fourth addition to the EV portfolio that features the Tigor, the Nexon, and the X-PRES-T. The new EV will be one of the most affordable one in the hatchback segment.

Design and features

The Tiago will inherit the same design as of its facelifted ICE models. However, the new EV might feature the blue highlights as of its elder electrified siblings–the Tigor EV and Nexon EV.

The electric hatchback might come with notable features such as ABS with EBD, rear parking assist, auto AC, power windows, height adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjusted ORVMs, driver and co-driver airbags, a smart key with push-button start, a weather-proof battery pack, and LED lighting, among others.

Powertrain

Tata Motors hasn’t revealed any information about the Tiago EV’s powertrain. However, the new EV might be offered with the same battery pack—Ziptron technology—as that of the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV.

The entry-level hatchback might get a similar powertrain: a 26 kWh battery paired with a 56 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that generates 170 Nm of torque and can provide a maximum range of 306 km. Furthermore, the Tiago EV is also expected to get a split battery-pack.

For charging, the EV might be charged from 0 to 80% in less than 60 minutes via a fast charger; and takes 8.5 hours to achieve the same via a home charger.

Tata Tiago EV price in Nepal

The Tiago EV will be Tata’s most affordable EV in the hatchback segment. The electric hatchback is expected to come at a starting price of INR 10 lakh in India and Rs 29.50 lakh in Nepal.
