Toyota India launching Urban Cruiser based on Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Toyota India will be launching its all new Urban Cruiser which is based on Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The reports said that it could be launching it in late July or early August 2020 majorly depending on the coronavirus pandemic.

This SUV will essentially be a re-badged Vitara Brezza, and is expected to receive some cosmetic changes and design tweaks to differentiate it from Maruti’s version. The Urban Cruiser follows the Glanza as the second new mass-market offering in the company’s Indian lineup. The prominent updates will be upfront in the form of relatively inexpensive softer parts such as plastic bumper and grille. The rear end will also be tweaked a bit in order to lend it a distinguished appearance as compared to the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The cabin would witness the majority of changes as Toyota will use a lighter upholstery color and new graphics as compared to the Brezza’s grey theme. will be first in its segment to come with hybrid technology with the manual variant. Hence, due to the Japanese automaker’s globally renowned hybrid tech, it is expected to be more fuel efficient than the Vitara Brezza. Interestingly, Maruti Vitara Brezza automatic has a higher mileage of 18.76kmpl than the manual variant’s 17.03kmpl.

Urban Cruiser will be competing against Mahindra TUV300, Mahindra Bolero, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Mahindra Xylo, Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. Overall prices will be similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, ranging from around INRs 7.5 to INRs 11.5 lakhs.
