All You Need to Know About Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Price, Specification, Design

The robust Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is available in Nepal at a hefty price; as it is a hybrid version, the high price is considerable. United Trader Syndicate, the official distributor for Toyota vehicles in Nepal, brought the SUV almost a year ago and the response from the consumers has been quite welcoming. A country like Nepal should be one of the first to aggressively move forward towards the green future. However, EVs and hybrids are slowly rising towards popularity in the Nepalese market for quite some time as automobile giants are constantly working on efficiency and new technology towards going green. Even half of the number shifting to EV till the end of this decade would be more than a better step towards the green movement.

The ‘RAV’ in the Toyota RAV4 used to stand for ‘Recreation Activity Vehicle’ which later changed to “Robust Accurate Vehicle’ as now it comes in a sturdier and tougher version. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid comes with a petrol-powered motor and an electric-powered motor which helps to cut the fuel consumption in the process. As the motor is enhanced with two options, styling takes a more interesting turn as well compared to its predecessor. The overall look of the RAV4 Hybrid is striking, it is more comfortable, it is better to drive and the interior is nicer enough to attract more buyers in the market.

Specifications

We know the price for the RAV4 is high but what’s the exact price in 2021? We will come to that later. For now, let’s check out what this Hybrid animal has to offer.

Exterior

The exterior has a chunky and rugged appearance that matches its name. Upfront there is a not-so-massive grille with a Toyota badge located centrally that pretty much gives the front fascia a distinctive look. The look is further enhanced by the LED headlamps at either end and fog lamps below it. Down at the bottom, there are front parking sensors and a front camera. The slim side indicators are placed in the wing mirror and it sits on 17-inch alloy wheels with huge wheel arches. There are privacy glasses in the rear part of the SUV and at the top, there are sleek roof rails. Finally, the rear looks quite busy with LED tail lamps, an integrated rear spoiler, and dual chrome exhaust.

Interior

As you slip into the cabin, you will know instantly that it’s smart. Well, the interior does not give a luxurious feel but it does have an overall upscale appearance. There are plenty of adjustments on the driver’s seat and a steering wheel that helps to gain comfort. The adjustments on the driver’s seat lead to a more commanding view of the road and the armrest is large so that should make a long drive more convenient. The door bins are big enough to fit a large bottle and the storage area of the armrest, glovebox among others are fine as well. There are soft-touch materials used on the door tops and the dash along with stitching. Now, the 8-inch infotainment system sits on the dash which is not that far so it would be easy to know what’s going on whilst driving. But, the screen isn’t a very high resolution and not very responsive; a slight problem of lag could be felt. However, it comes with a wireless charger, a reversing camera, and a push-button start. The rear seats are comfortable enough for 3 people. There are enough headroom and legroom to stretch out under the front seat even for the taller passengers. The child seats are easy to fix but with 2 child seats, a person might find it hard to fit in. The boot space has a generous 577 liters of space big enough to fit two large and two small pieces of luggage. The false floor also opens to additional storage if required. In the case of heavy luggage, it can be easily slid through the boot; thanks to the lower load lip. The tailgate is electrical but it does take a lot of time to close it.
