Volkswagen reveals the ID.2all concept: the electric hatchback at less than € 25,000

Volkswagen has revealed a new affordable electric hatchback–the ID.2all concept–that is expected to cost less than € 25,000. The new ID.2all will be the first front-wheel drive vehicle based on the company’s MEB platform. The new electric hatchback is as spacious as the Golf models with 223 hp of power, a range of 450 km, and innovative technological features. According to the company, the production version of the ID.2all is expected to go on sale in 2025 for all European markets.

Commenting on the occasion, Thomas Schäfer, CEO, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said: “We are transforming the company rapidly and fundamentally – with the clear objective of making Volkswagen a genuine Love Brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to take the brand. We want to be close to the customer and offer top technology in combination with fantastic design. We are implementing the transformation at pace to bring electric mobility to the masses.”

Design

The ID.2all takes its exterior design inspiration from the company’s Golf models. The electric hatchback measures 4050 mm in overall length, 1812 mm in overall width, and 1530 mm in overall height, which makes the car around 254 mm shorter in length. The electric hatchback also features the C-pillar design, which was developed for the first Golf, and its body comes with a clear and powerful stance on the wheels.

Inside, the ID.2all comes with a spacious cabin as the Golf models. The dashboard will feature a head-up display, a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, and an infotainment system with classic volume control and a separate air conditioning block. The EV also gets a boot space of 490 L, which is expandable up to 1330 L.

Powertrain

The company hasn’t revealed all the information regarding the powertrain; however, the EV will generate 223 hp of power, and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in less than 7 seconds. Furthermore, the electric hatchback can also reach a top speed of 160 kmph. For charging, the EV will be charged from 10-80% in approximately 20 minutes, and on a full charge, the electric hatchback will provide a WLTP range of 450 km.
