A peek of what we will be expecting in the upcoming SUV is delivered from the teaser video; curves and few exterior details. In regards to the platform, the new Taigun will underpin the carmaker’s new India-specific MQB A0 IN platform making it the brand’s first model under the platform. The very platform is formed highly localized focusing on Indian climatic conditions, keeping the cost in check with customers’ requirements. The upcoming mid-size SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and Kia Seltos.
In terms of styling, the Volkswagen Taigun follows the quintessential design of the brand with clean lines and a bold stance. At the front end, Taigun gets squared-off headlamps linked by a two-slat vertical chrome grille. The aggressive bumpers are present where the fog lamps rest and the skid plates at the bottom. The sides of the SUV deliver the sporty vibe with a sharp shoulder line, some graphics on the C-pillar, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear ends sports a distinct look with LED taillights that are connected across the width of the boot.
Likewise, the interior of the Taigun is likely to have a dash with the exterior body color. Other highlights expected include a digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, a new multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a multi-functional steering wheel. The powertrain will include a 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine expected with an output of 148bhp and 250Nm of peak torque with a manual and a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
